Yes, that is the most common failure mode for those units.
This would include ALL sirens that have the membrane keypad on the front of the panel.
I have replaced the keypads on WPS, VORTEX, HORNET with this problem.
If you encounter this. Please contact the siren owner immediately as not only is it very annoying to the public, but with older sirens it will burn up the drivers before the batteries finally go dead.
The newer drivers will survive the siren running until the batteries go flat and the unit shuts down from not having enough voltage to run. But these are only the ones in the last few years.
