Madison Heights, Michigan Siren test

Sun Oct 07, 2007 1:21 am

This File is too big for youtube.
So you can download it from my index.

VIDEO

This Thunderbolt is atop the Incinerator building East of John R. Rd. and just North of 12 Mile Rd. Part way thru you hear me say Damn. I forgot to put the memory card in the other camera, and it only recorded about a min. of the test. I find it neat that this one has a long wind down and it still rotates after the chopper stops.

I was told that the senior center next to the incinerator building has an entrance that lets you onto the school grounds just behind the incinerator.
If the trees had lost all their leaves I could get better side pic's. But here's a few I did get.

That sounded awesome! I heard some 2001s mixing in as well i think. That's the longest wind down i have ever seen, the horn was still rotating like 30secs after it had shut down. Nice video!!
Also, love the 2nd picture!

I was going to the one in Oak Park, But I woke up late, and got to this one just 5 mins before it went off.

I really love the second picture, too!
The Thunderbolt siren really does look sharper without the front screen.

Like the second picture, but that video is rather large. 8)

I'll see what I can do about the file size and upload it to YouTube if you like?

yeah, the blower's still running too, you can hear the ffpt-ffpt-ffpt through the chopper at about 3:34.

This has to be one of the greatest T-bolt videos I have ever seen. The extended wind-down is excellent! :D I just wish that more T-bolt installations would have been setup to operate like this one.

I would have to believe that T-bolt, due fact it's mounted up high on a building, must have a very effective coverage area?

Sincerely yours,

Ron W.

That sure sounds scary! That would get your attention for sure. I love the sound of that siren, and also love how the blower system keeps going through the whole wind down. Still, a 5/6 port chopper sounds scarier from a distance than a 4/5 port chopper, but the lower pitch tone is more penetrating than the higher pitch tone
Federal Signal Thunderbolt Series, still the King of Air Raid Sirens!
