First off, best of luck. Looking beautiful.

This made me wonder: did Carson make everything for ACA's electronics in the early days? Curious what, if anything, ACA did in house with the electronic components.

My guess is Carson did, but I'd have to look into it more. Obviously the 200W amps and the controller are, and I think the 400W amplifier is too.

Man, can I just say this has been the most exciting thing I’ve read all year. I love the older Allertronics and I’m excited to see how the project turns out!

This made me wonder: did Carson make everything for ACA's electronics in the early days? Curious what, if anything, ACA did in house with the electronic components.

Carson made both revisions of the old analog tone boards that the Alertronic's used as well as the 200W amplifier and the early 400W amplifier the Quadren used. I do not believe that Carson makes anything for American Signal now. Right now there is a different company that assembles the CompuLert 3 board that the newer ASC electronic sirens use as well as the later Alertronics and Quadrens. I believe the same company makes the amplifiers.

Doing some work on the cabinet. Had to remove three broken screws out of the control board.
Also had to dump out all the leaves and dirt, so I figured the best way was to just tip it face first into the ground... Not the best but it works!
Apparently these steel cabinets have the battery cabinet directly bolted to the main control cabinet. It also appears the battery cabinet has an open top, as seen in the picture.

That’s an amazing find! You got very lucky! Good luck restoring it! I’d say the first priority is painting over the vandalism if it were me.

Well, with it currently being in the negatives for temperature, painting at my shop is impossible. I'd like to get most of it sanded off first before painting, just to eliminate any chances of it possibly fading through years later (in the off chance it goes back up on a pole). I'm still waiting for it to get warm enough I can send everything off that's steel to get sandblasted by Johnson's Sandblasting. Same thing goes with painting; the recommended temperature is 50˚F and up, so it probably won't be until early spring.
Currently, I'm waiting on getting the back cover remanufactured by Smith Welding in St. Paul, NE. It's going to be made out of 1/16" thick aluminum since it's both light-weight and can be corrosive-resistant if done right. There's also a number of other parts I'm waiting on to be manufactured or shipped too, such as the Atlas Y-Adapters and the Atlas 8487400 adapters.

Speak of the devil, there they are... The new 8487400 adapters arrived. Just waiting on the specialty 1-3/8"x18 UNEF tap to arrive and then I can get threads tapped in.

Well, after issue after issue with getting the aluminum cover designed, cut, rolled, welded, rewelded (shop that welded it the first time did a HORRIBLE job), and then encountering multiple issues afterwards, I decided to scrap that idea and try salvaging the fiberglass cover.

Still waiting for more parts. Hoping to have the whole project wrapped up by April or May.
