Commodore Schuyler F. Heim Bridge Mystery Sirens

Sat Dec 09, 2023 7:23 pm

At each end of the drawbridge, there were these red sirens (because every california drawbridge had to contain a siren) At first, I thought these were those Federal Signal Model type sirens but the mount and that rounded back doubted my thoughts. Sadly, the bridge was decommissioned somewhere around October 2015, and was scrapped after that, most likely taking the sirens with it. These sirens are still viewable on Google Maps via Street view.

*It is also worth noting that the South siren replaced a Model D somewhere around 2008 and 2011 and used its mount. The Model D is still viewable on Google Street view.

If I'm not mistaken, these appear to be Sentry F2 sirens. The metal mounting bracket on the motor and the way the horn is shaped give it away. It might look squished on street view, but that's just the camera.

Hoping to get some sirens in the future...
