Excellent recording, but I can't figure out why you would want to replace that siren with an Electronic speaker if it still works.

The city probably desired a DC set-up. Whelen's are cheap and effective, and offer a variety of tones.

Great recording, and I think the people in your city are nuts for wanting to replace that siren with a Whelen. That siren works perfectly. As the old saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Congratulations on your STH10.

BTW, how loud is the STH10?

The STH-10 is rated at (115) Decibels at a hundred feet away.

Also, I hope that the place gave their STH-10 up for the sake of a DC-powered siren and a greater variety of tones - if they gave it up simply for having a cheaper siren, wouldn't they have saved money just keeping the perfectly fine STH-10?

Very cool video (I love the long wind down). Sad to hear the siren was replaced and with a Whelen, no less. I've been trying to record one of these bad boys for the last few weeks, but with no success. It keeps snowing on the test days.
