Siren test failed today

Mon Jul 17, 2006 5:44 pm

Every Monday the siren are tested but today was different.

The first test almost all of the sirens failed to go off.

The second test they all went off

Now if this was a disaster they would have killed a lot of people all because the sirens did not go off properly the first time. All of the sirens are thunderbolts.
What do you think happened?

the thunderbolts sound a little sick in the recording the tone kind of drops and then it sounds again higher then the tone drops again a little bit but it might just be the recording

It is prolly becasue the system is so old. Did you hear one of the sirens didnt have rotation? Here in Topeka Even though we have many different types of oldder sirens they all work. Once in a while a thunderbolt will get lazy but it is ussaly during a test.

Icky! I feel so sorry for those poor sirens.
I hope they get them fixed.
Our T-bolt 1000T has been running for a little over 50 years, and it still sounds great...Even though it's dirty from the weather.

Regardless of sickness or health, I sure miss the creepy growl of all those thunderbolts starting up. The 2001s are just not the same.

Who would have "killed people?" The sirens? How do sirens "kill people?"
Dad, what does that CD mean on that big yellow horn? Well son, I believe it stands for Cyclone Device......

That made a whole lot of sense

Sirens are not susposed to tell people in buildings or whatever.

They are intended to warn people who are outside. If you were smart
enough, if a sorm was comming you would turn on the TV, Radio,
etc.
