Below is a list of sirens which are still installed, but derelict and abandoned by the county of Los Angeles. I have personally verified these locations within the past few months as still being in place.

Would those be part of the San Onofre nuclear plant warning system? Dana Point is a bit north of San Onofre, but I am wondering why else? (if Lion Country Safari was still there, I'd say the sirens were for an escaped lion

LOL... yeah, they would do that for a lion.

Dana Point? Never heard of it...

But now that I think of it, I recall seeing a 612 over somewhere in Maui, and seeing some Modulators over there too. I was hoping to see a T-Bolt, but no avail ;(
Most likely they are for a hurricane or a tsunami.

So when I said that I never saw an air raid siren before,
1.) I meant an actual air raid, yellow Civil Defense era siren.
2.) And I was wrong.
3.) It was 2 in the morning, give me a break ;)

I saw a video of a 612 siren before... that has to be the worst siren I have ever seen. The sound is *annoying* and too high-pitched, and the siren rotating idea was crap, the siren looks like it will break off any second.

Unfortunately, we left 30 minutes (by airplane) before the monthly siren test in Maui ;( so I NEVER have HEARD a real siren before in person.

Searcy has 6 Whelen Vortex units. I drew in the circles and dots (did a crappy job on the circles but what the hey ;) ). Locations are approximate. IMHO, parts of Searcy are in dire need of additional sirens (at least 2), especially on the extreme western fringe. I can faintly hear the sirens at my residence. When an east / southeast winds blows, I can hear them quite well.
Searcy is expanding westward and the area needs additional warning sirens.

Not far from my apartment is a Whelen Vortex siren. It is located south of the OSU Airport on West Case Road in Columbus, Ohio.
