Echoing Tyler's post and more specifically, it's an early production Federal Electric Type B, with the one-piece cast stator and intake featuring the two rows of ports. It would be weird if you have never heard the rising and falling of a siren before. This was the first electric siren on the American market as far as I know. Steam whistles rise and fall in pitch, but not like one of these high-pitched sirens.
