Dual-tone ACA Screamer S-10

Sun Jul 20, 2008 12:50 am

After last weekend's near miss at recording the siren in Atkins, today I returned, and was able to successfully record their dual-tone ACA Screamer.

Nicely filmed, I thought that the wind down wasn't too long. Nice catch, I like those who use the tri-pod. I wish there were more of those sirens recorded.
So, apparently, I like Federal Signal...

I like how when it gets low pitched during the wind-down, you can hear each revolution of the rotor. This siren sounds like a smaller version of the Banshee.

Well done! My Howler's wind down is the same. If I take the rotator belt off, just spinning the rotor a couple times by hand will keep it going for like 2 minutes. The ACA 18" 9/12 rotors must be pretty well balanced.

RamFett, I noticed in your growl test video that the rotor on your Howler has a bunch of holes drilled in one side. I wonder if that was done to help improve the balance.

Did Federal make a 5/6 port 2T? If so, it's got to be extremely rare.

Not that hard to recreate, really.

I just saw a dual toned Screamer today! I waited to see if it would start up at noon. It didn't but it was still pretty cool. :)

By the way, nice video. :D
