It dosn't sound that horrible, but it dosn't sound healthy, the pitch jumps around. Not sure if that is voltage problems or not.

That's the worst sounding 2001-130 I've ever heard. It sounds really underpowered, and the pitch does jump around a lot. I would almost bet that that siren isn't even producing 128 DB at 100 feet.

I'm just wondering why all these 2001's are sound absolutely terrible lately, the 2001's in my town sound perfect! maybe that's because they are the older models, I don't know.

Makes me wonder if this siren was used recently. The pitch isn't even correct, nor is the rotation. If a siren is used recently, (according to our EM director in this county) the 2001 when tested they will run for a max of 5 to 10 minutes during a test. After that time the battery backup takes a day or so to fully recharge correctly. However, looking at this 2001, I see a tilted panel so it probably is just running off of batteries and solar power.

That jumping pitch thing really concerns me, because every single one of the 2001-130's I've ever heard do that to some degree. Even if this one was getting it's full supply of power, it's pitch would probably still jump around. That really makes me concerned about the reliability of the 2001-130.

That can't be good for the siren.

The more I listen to this siren, the more I like that tone being thrown out. Much more ear pleasing then the shrill tone it makes at full RPM.

I wouldn't be too worried. If you remember back this past year in Johnson county KS, lightning or something related set off a tornado siren for a good 30 mins, if not longer according to media. It was running on the main power, not the battery backup. however, when the siren was D/C'd from the main power the batteries kicked in and it kept going until they cut the power from the batteries.

I have no doubts this siren can be a "work horse" siren, but since those days (talking around 2000 or so here) with the earlier models of the 2001 is what I am probably describing.
