There is another video on there by Michel of an HLS siren in R?sselsheim producing a rather strange tone sequence, noting it's a test of an air raid alarm...for some reason, it cuts the air during the wind-down.

Here's another video of the upgraded HLS in Darmstadt; he said he took the video only 30m (100ft) from the siren...must had been earpiercing.

Here he took another video of the same siren, but you can only hear the E57s in the background because the siren won't sound.

Sounds like that siren had no air pumped to it until at 61 seconds.
Or is the stuttering descending sound something else?
Are those air pumps piston pumps?
That could account for the stuttering sound.

@ Robert:
The siren didn't sound because ice blocked the valve between the air tank and the sirenhead.

There is another video on youtube, where the videographer is really close to the siren, and when it shuts off and winds down, the air stays on until the rotor stops. Is the time delay of the air shutoff adjustable?

Haben sie nicht some kind of drain valve to clear water from the lines and tank?

What was that sound heard at 61 seconds? Some air getting through and then the line became replugged with ice?
