Daniel, the sound frequencys of the MS55 are 485/ 580hz. Are they the same tones, voices as that on the Castle Castings and Gents sirens or the 2T22 and 3T22 sirens.

Yes, the 485/580 Hz. frequencies are the standard, minor-third "British siren sound" as heard (or formerly heard) throughout the UK, Australia, New Zealand, India, Canada, and anywhere that Britain had once colonised. If operated on American/Canadian 60 Hz., it would sound like a 2T22.

Okay thankyou Daniel. It is a shame none of these MS55's are put into service around Australia. I guess that huge factorys would use them as a noon whistle so workers know when lunch starts and sound it when it is the end of the day. If there was a active siren system across Australia, those sirens would have probably been installed all around Australia.

Don't coastal towns in Australia have some sort of tsunami warning system? New Zealand put in all sorts of mechanical and electronic sirens after the Indonesian quake.

Daniel, there are no sirens to my knowledge where I live in the Woy Woy, Umina beach area. I do know that there are some Fire Departments around but only the old ones have sirens but they do not get used anymore. There is a fire station further away from where I live that uses their siren sometimes but I can't remember where it was. Unlike America, any old sirens left in Australia are just mainly left unused. Justin will be able to explain this better than me.

We still have a fair few for flood warnings. I'm still trying to work out where the 30 something ACA Cyclones that were sent over here are - if you haven't seen that on ASC's website.

Strange to see them making the same design as Klaxon though.

A very similar siren to the MS22 was found in Skiathos island (Greece) last week. However I doubt this is made by Mechtric. Maybe a chinese copy of some kind? Also it looks pretty small.
