To provide pressurized air to the copper, so more air it moved into and out of the choppor and stator, making more sound by having more cfm of a air burst come out of into the air. (creates more of a disturbance, which produces more sound) Its also what gives the Thunderbolts their throaty sound.

Without the blower on the Thunderbolt, it would simply be a directional
version of the Model 2.
