ATI. The worst sounding siren. I don't like them as much as I used to after I heard one.

I'd have to say the Hormann Super Sirex 50 with it's unsettling flatted fifth interval. What a WEIRD and ominous sounding siren indeed!

ah, it is an MKII. the worst sounding siren, besides the ATI, has to be Federal's siren lineup. They are too high pitched to be distinctive enough for people to recognize them well. ASC is currently the top producer of warning units here. And Klaxon Signals in the UK.
Bringing the joy of siren collecting to the chicago area and more!

My vote is probably the ATI doing Fast Wail. My second vote is probably the first time I heard a Thunderbolt!

I have a video of a Decot somewhere I got off of wisconsinsirens. It has a nice whine to it.

For an electronic siren, I like the older Siratones that sound almost mechanical.

I have two sirens that I think have the most unusual sound.

1. The Thunderbolt 1003T

2. The Vortex Whelen functioning as a speaker system.

And this probably won't count, but what I also think is most unusual is a miniature T-128 siren (no offense).

The weirdest, or in this case, coolest siren I've ever heard, was the clintonville, WI Decot. It has a 520-840, or 10-16 ratio. Very musical sounding.

I think the Whelen sirens in "Air Horn" mode are very wierd.

Hands down, the Hurricane. It has a sound all to it's own. I guarantee you, if you were to sound a Hurricane then IMMEDIATLY after the siren wound up, actually possibly even in the last part of the wind up, cut the blower and I guarantee you, you'd hear the wind up echo for miles. It stands out in its own way. It looks like a mideval (sp?) trumpet yet makes so much noise. Then the wind down..you might as well call it an air horn, it has virtually no wind up and virtually no wind down. Well, it does, but not very much of one. And DONT ARGUE...lol...you all know what I meant by no wind up and no wind down. Seriously though, the Hurricane is mysterious. Imagine it out against a line of trees, with a storm brewing and the branches slowly swaying. We have some trees like that which border our 2nd driveway, the black clouds make them stand out with the way they sway. Anyhow, back to the topic, sorry, the Hurricane has my vote.

The reason why the Hurricane has almost no easily audible wind-down is because of how most of them are controlled. There isn't a separate control for the blower or the rotator, so the whole thing starts up and shuts down intermittently during the alert signal. The Hurricane actually has a nice long wind-down.
