Re: Parker County, TX Siren Map

Are these all supposed to be fantasy siren maps? Some of the sirens shown don't even exist.

Re: How Many other towns use Thunderbeams?

I'm just saying that this thread was made almost 16 years ago, and you aren't really supposed to disturb threads over 10 years old.

Waverly, MI has a system made up of Thunderbeams, with some 2001s being added for spacing. There's even one that's mounted almost 40 feet in the air on a large building!

Re: Help! STH-10 Restoration information needed

It probably couldn’t hurt to contact places with siren graveyards like the ubiquitous West Shore Services. They’re bound to have some STH-10s and if you make an offer you might be able to get some used horns in decent quality. However pricing and if they’re even willing to sell might be iffy, but c...

Re: Help! STH-10 Restoration information needed

I checked the street view of the water tower that the STH-10 fell off of so I could see how far it could've fallen, but I can't seem to find where it was located on it. What year did it fall? None of the street view dates show anything on the tower that look like one, unless there's another water to...

Re: What kind of siren is this?

I believe that's a Sparton Model 215, and not an ADEMCO siren. Unless they look exactly the same, the motor cover gives it away.

I also had one that I put up on a pole, but then some randos from the city came in trucks and tore it down

Re: What's the differences with some Whelen Vortexs compared to others?

Yes, the only Whelen sirens that are capable of voice announcements are the 4000s, 3000s, and 2900s! I believe the Hornets and 1000s are also capable of voice as well. And 2000s (optional on the 2000R), 2700s, 2800s. Hornets are not voice capable. They use the same control set up as the Vortex seri...

Re: What's the differences with some Whelen Vortexs compared to others?

There's absolutely no difference between a WPS-29xx head and an Omni-Alert/FHS head. The only difference between them are the features the controllers have. Electronic sirens only output whatever the controller does through the amplifier, and the sound is generated from the controller. Thus, the co...

Re: What's the differences with some Whelen Vortexs compared to others?

I believe the reason why some second gen Vortexes still have their fins is because Whelen still thought that they needed one to help with the rotation, but they didn't due to the new rotators being direct drive. It's kind of like the reason some older Thunderbolts have "jailbars" in their...
