STH-10A Tag

Thu Feb 24, 2022 4:45 am

So, I recently got into a discussion with a few enthusiasts about my STH-10 Motor tag. And it got into so deep question. The tag says, C17520M98 and we got confused about the “C” at the beginning of it. Anybody have any idea what it means? I’m curious.

Is this a model number or a serial number you're talking about?

I wonder if other STH-10A sirens start with a C or have more of the same digits after that. It could be just a meaningless letter and number, or maybe a contract number - not sure. For example the M809 5-ton trucks all have serial numbers that start with a 'C124' with the last five digits being their production count number. I have no idea why they're like that, but it's a thing!

Wasn't there someone making a siren serial number database?

The only thing I can tell you is M98 is a date code, 98 of course being 1998, and the M standing for the month of October.

That's for Thunderbolt Sirens only. Not many sirens have visible serial numbers aside from a date code, so it wouldn't be a very comprehensive list.

Yes, I’m aware of that. I’m just wonder what the C stands for in the serial NO
