You’d be surprised how many threads get locked just because someone feels like it, they usually aren’t even breaking TOS.
Things are way different now that this board is run by children, most of which I assume have been denied two years or so of education depending on where they live. It's really showing in the quality of this place. Too bad, it used to be really fun to hang out in General Discussion (which, by the way, is where a proper moderator should put this thread... *ahem!*)

So, let's commence reawesomeification of this biznatch with some posts about siren dreams of mine from way back then (re-posting from 2006). I have not had another one since I modeled up one that vividly stuck in my brain back then, the Doomsday Sound 500LT. Search for it, there's still bound to be a picture. So yeah, 19 years and no siren dreams stand out. :?

I couldn't find my post describing this one. It may have been on the old board. The 500LT was conceived in a dream I had where I was standing next to a tall building. Like an office building with window panes making up the entire face of it. Next to the sidewalk and mounted on a support structure was the biggest siren ever, and perhaps only 8-10 feet off the ground and couldn't have been more than 20 feet from the building. The monster had a roughly four-foot diameter stator - I would have to dig up the AutoCAD file and check the dimension, and strange coding mechanisms on each port. It never sounded. Had it activated, I'm sure that the entire face of the building would have shattered and rained down an avalanche of glass! I took liberties filling in a few speculative details when I modeled it, such as defining the motor to be 500HP and cooled by a unique forced air system.

Anyway, a quick search through my post history turned up a few:
I came upon a small wooden shack which had two sirens mounted on the roof. They were both Carters style sirens, but one was half the size of the other. Inside the shack, amongst other old machinery, I found the siren controls. It was one of those machine switches with the green and red square "start/stop" buttons.

Upon pressing the start button, I heard a very muted attack signal. It was as if they were off in the distance. Surely two sirens just a couple feet from my head and blocked only by thin wood and sheet metal would be considerably louder!
[Watching a movie ] there was apparently some impending disaster, and the screen showed a helicopter's view flying over the town at just above roof top level. It would fly by sirens while they were going off, so you'd get a great mix of different sirens fading in and out as they went by. I was happy to hear that the sounds for each siren were authentic, and not dubbed over with whatever someone thought they would sound like.

Some that I remember are several Allertors, a Thunderbolt 1000T, A model 5 or 7, and a pole that had three model 2s mounted on it. Think of a "t" shape with a siren mounted on each arm and on the top of the pole. The strangest siren looked similar to the top of an Allertor connected to a rotating mechanism, but more elongated and streamlined. It sounded like an Allertor and oscillated like a Whelen, but quite fast.

As I was just coming out of sleep, I was trying to think what movie that was so I could watch it again, but soon realized that I was no longer in Dream Land, and the movie didn't exist.
This?
[Broken link]

This was an approximation of something I heard in a dream a long time ago. Imagine being in a forest, all alone, and hearing this off in the distance echoing through the trees.

-----------------------------

As scary as it may sound, I couldn't closely duplicate what I heard in this dream. I was really young at the time, didn't even know what sirens looked like or how they worked, never heard one in person, but that sound stuck in my mind since then.

When I heard the sirens winding up, I knew something really bad was happening, but I didn't know what. All I can remember was standing by myself in a dense forest on the side of a mountain. It was a nice and quiet day, and I could see the blue sky through the trees. Then this terrible (but oh-so-cool!) sound began to echo through the forest in a way that I can't reproduce. They were much bigger sounding. I think I may have been running through the woods while the sirens were going, but I don't remember.
I still have the file that I made attempting to replicate that dream I had as a little kid. But that was on the old Internet, back when I had a website and space to directly put audio files and stuff. Can you attach an .mp3 file to a post? I don't use google drive or any of that. If so I can probably dig it up again if anyone wants.

<-- Is a major packrat, still has all the files from Siren Contest 2004 and probably every file, photoshop, avatar, signature, I ever posted on the old board. Only missing a couple of my AutoCAD creations that were victims of the Great Hard Drive Crash of 2005. They exist as one or two in-work screenshots. It's nuts to think it was all that long ago.
