Mars, PA Sentry 5V sounding for a fire call

Sat Nov 12, 2011 7:16 pm

So I finally managed to get video of our town's siren. I didn't catch the windup, but got the rest of the cycle.
I think it might be single phase, because it is a capacitor start siren. I guess you can watch the video to figure out:

I love firefighting and sirens. Somehow they go together.

There's a 5V? Must of been discontinued.
What happened when Napoleon went to Mt. Olive? Popeye got pissed.

Yes, it was the predecessor to the 3V8 but with a larger "skirt". Both have the same size chopper and the same 5hp motor, which leads to the question of why they even bothered to change names when they did nothing more than change the sheet metal around just a little. There was also a 7V at the time too, which is now known as the 7V8. It too had the same size "skirt" as the 5V did, but it featured a larger rotor/stator and a 7.5hp motor. Once again, not sure why they changed the name of this siren either when all they did was modify the sheet metal a little.
