Here's a video I recorded this morning for the siren system of the city of Lille in France.
You don't often see French sirens up close, so I tried to record from as close as possible to where I could film the siren without being on the street.
This one is a Constructions Électriques du Nord (CEN) model NP2(S) (either NP2 or NP2S, the number 2 being due to the type of motor, but there's no vantage point from which I can zoom in enough to see the label (even using my 400mm telephoto lens) so we don't know if it's an “S” model). It's a pretty unusual model, especially when it's hornless like this one!
We wonder if it's also reverse wired. At 180 feet, it was quiet enough not to wear ear protection (I did anyway, just to make sure, but it didn't hurt when I took off my headphones).
Here, the sirens are tested at 11:45 every first Wednesday of the month, unless it's a public holiday, which was the case on January 1, so the test took place today, January 8.
Enjoy the video!
