Thundetbolt In St Petersburg, FL

Hello, this is my first post on this website and I dont really know what im doing. I have had an intrest in the thunderbolt atop the municipal services center in St Petersburg, FL Does anyone Have any information on it?

That siren has been inactive for many years. I heard that they used to set it off for New Year's celebrations, but they stopped doing that ages ago. Even if the city wanted to set it off again, they can't at the moment, because the blower and controls have been gone for many years. Ironically enough, I was in downtown St. Petersburg the day after you posted this, and I took two photos of the siren.

St. Petersburg had a system of 9 or 10 Thunderbolts. One was on top of the post office on 1st Ave. N. and another was at fire station 9. The last time the sirens were used was in 1985 for Hurricane Elena.
