Reading, Ohio - Thunderbolt 1000T

Tue Jul 24, 2007 2:58 am

Hello. This is my first post here. The two closest sirens to me are both Thunderbolts, both 1000T's I believe. :)

One is up on the hill, and it's got a little problem. The other is on top of an old abandoned factory in Lockland, Ohio. I think power has been cut to the building, so it must get power from another source.

I've got pictures of both (both taken by me), there's a video of the one up on the hill (but it's not my video).

I used digital zoom on this one from about two blocks away, because when you get too close to the building, you can't see the siren over the roof. Turned out rather well though. I'm not sure if this is a 1000 or 1000T, most of the time when this siren goes off, I'm not in the area.

Reading 1000T:

Reading 1000T Video:

In the video, the rotator stops operating when the chopper turns off, which, by the limited knowledge I have of these sirens, indicates that the relay or starter for the rotator motor failed, and the rotator motor was wired to the same location as the chopper motor instead of replacing the relay. I'm still not entirely 100% sure on how these sirens work yet. :P

and the list I have so far of this area:

I run that site from my own servers here at home. Anyone is free to add information and lists to it, pictures, etc...
Hmmm, that vid looks awful familiar.....Oh yeah, I filmed it.....

Welcome to the board, and you did good by the way, indicating the video wasn't your own. I have no problem with you posting the link, and as long as you clarify which is your vids or pic, you should have no problems on this board.

I live in West Chester, but work @ the corner from you at GE. I'm an acquaintance of the guy who installed most of the sirens in the area and maintains them. He is WERDEN SIREN on this board. I have several other vids under the Sirenzrok account on Youtube, so feel free to check those out. You'll probably like my model T-128 on there.

Anywho, PM me sometime if ya want, I can fill you in on some local siren info if you like.
